Re: Fitting Gen V.W. Roof Bars
Thanks for that - appreciate the tip. I think I will just keep my eye out for something suitable - not sure its worth £20 for a bit of VW plastic Talking of which.... you can pick up replacement end caps from VW. but I think I will go with the tape in any event I struggled with the torque wrench too...

Re: Fitting Gen V.W. Roof Bars
Update on the above.... I also attached my rack to the clip (not the bolt). I thought it looked odd and was difficult to get on! Now I know where to put it, I am conscious of not marking / splitting the rubber seal. I didnt get the installation tool but I wonder if I should? I tried using a credit c...

Re: Fitting Gen V.W. Roof Bars
OOOOOOpppsss!!, Using the High Tec, Fine zero Tollerance, 'Plastic Tool' I mistook front bracket ' locating bolt' cunningly hidden I hasten to add, between rubber and roof for a body clip nearby, assume holding the rubber seal. Lump hammer and Sledge hammer, didn't persuade the bracket into the wro...

Re: Tune2Air Bluetooth module through MDI
can the Tune2Air WMA3000a be used for calls at all? I realise it would ideally need a fitted Mic but can the phone pick up voice and play sound through the speakers with a bluetooth connection?
Apologies for the potentially silly question
Thanks

Re: RNS 510 boot loop
Car is a 58 plate but I had only had it for 2 weeks - and I wasn't budging from their office without something. The warranty they sold it with didn't cover ICE, so I was reliant on the Sale of Goods Act. Should probably have stood my ground for the full cost but its never quite that easy in person ....

Re: RNS 510 boot loop
I have just had this in mine - I think the ROM has gone. My dealer (independant) sent it off for repair which I have to pay half of (£250 total) but its not been returned to me yet. From looking on here, someone posted a link to these huys who do it for £90 - wish I had seen it sooner..... http://ww...

Re: New car DSG problem
Had this in my golf GTi going from 2 to 3rd and it used to drive me nuts. As I understand it, its the early signs of the mechatronic problem. I tried resetting the box and made sure the DSG service was up to date; but in the end I had to simply live with it. Had several VW engineers look at it and t...

Re: Smoking exhaust when holding on the clutch
I am sure you are right Gaz - thanks for that I got a 3 month warranty from the (independent) dealer. I will see what he says but dont hold out much hope as the warranty is one they provide themselves - Im sure I will be fobbed off with a 'wear and tear' response. Does this seem fair less than a mon...

Re: Smoking exhaust when holding on the clutch
No burning smell that I have noticed. Its odd - its certainly not all the time but the occasional high pitched whine when cold does un-nerve me a little!

Smoking exhaust when holding on the clutch
Hello, I noticed today when paralell parking on a hill that when I was holding the car on the clutch the exhaust was smoking quite a bit. Fine when I came off the gas and parked. Should I be worried? Possibly connected, I also sometimes hear a high pitched whirring noise when trying to find the bite...

Re: RNS510 - No GPS Signal
Had this on mine. I just bought a new gps antenna on eBay and mounted it in a gap above the head unit (fairly easy to pop out) - £10 and half an hour and it was all done. It saved taking off the headlining to get to the original receiver. I even found a video on YouTube of someone doing it on the sa...

Which roof rack do I buy?
Hello, First post - hope its in the right place.... I recently became the owner of 2.0 Tsi rising blue roc. Came over to the dark side from 3 golf Gtis and starting to feel the love Having had a cursory search before buying the car, I now realise that my options for a roof rack are fairly limited. H...
