Re: Time to say goodbye

Guys trust me.... the Mondeo is very very temporary. Cost me 800 quid, is a 1.8 zetec that handles like a pissed head on a pogo stick, goes slower than a tree sloth dosed up on diazepam and is truly hateful. New B8 S4 is top of my wish list at the mo with a Sportec conversion putting it up to 410-42...

Time to say goodbye

The time has come........... My rocco goes to the dealers tomorrow, sold, gone, no more I have enjoyed the head turning moments, the remap performance and the lovely sound of my non res Milltek system but all good things must come to an end. For personal reasons I have decided to sell up, got a pile...

Re: Insurance Renewal - What a Pain.....

I just renewed my insurance on my modded roc. Renewal with Greenlight was over £500 which for 43 years old and full no claims in a very safe postcode was taking the mick I thought...so Called Chris Knott and they basically said whats your best quote and who was that with. When I told them the name o...

Re: Hypermiling

I Think you may find that the economy has improved in part due to the rise in temps. My old 03 plate TDi polo used to do 59-60MPG average in the summer but only 52-53 in the winter. I have no experience of the CR diesels but I would imagine its the same with them, maybe due to the viscosity of the d...

Re: Tyre prices for 18" GT

Got a puncture due to the inept Oxfordshire council still failing to deal with any potholes around here. :grumpy: Anyway, phoned around and Protyre in Heyford will do a GoodYear F1 Assymetric for 145 quid all in. Booked in for Saturday to have a pair of fronts as might aswell keep em all worn equall...

Re: Tyre prices for 18" GT

I just saw this thread, and was shocked by some of the prices quoted, so I did a little research. My roc came with the pirelli pzero rosso's. Anyone living in the south may have heard of a place called Micheldever service station, who i'm led to believe are about the biggest tyre distributer in the...

Re: Insurance etc.

You lot are lucky !!! I pay £575, and I am 43 with 9yrs plus ncd  BUT, thats declaring all my mods, doing 25k a year but I do live in a very low risk area. I guess the reason for the price is the little CD10 I got in 2005 for a motorbike crash where the filth did me for careless riding (was IAM...

Re: Best way to change from 2.0TSI to 2.0TDI 170?

What you save in fuel costs you will more than lose in the depreciation of your old car and the difference (cost to change) to a new diesel. I used to do 500 miles plus per week and the roc was returning about 35-36 on the motorway at a steady cruise. If you are not ragging it then just run it on ba...

Re: Anyone on here used to have a BMW?

I test drove a 123d coupe and was undecided to go for one of those or the roc, chose the roc as there was just something about the style of the 1 series that I could not put my finger on. That said, the 123d engine is a peach, pulls so so strongly from 1200 rpm, does not have the usual diesel clatte...

Re: Prosecution for use of fog lights

100m is the key part. You're only supposed to use them when visibility is severely reduced rather than when it's just a little bit foggy. Agreed but when its pachy it means you keep turning them on and off Guys, think about this for a minute. How thick does the fog need to be to warrant the use of ...

Re: Screen wash fluid

My car has Winter pack and does indeed have a low fluid warning light. FWIW, I remember a thread on the MKV gti forum about the "fan" spray failing/blocking and VW attributed this to using non VW screen wash. Cannot see how this is the case but worth remembering. "Yes Mr Service depar...

Re: Delivery length?

So can somebody shed some light on why there is such a long wait between order and delivery?! Dunno if this is anything to do with it but when I went down the M5 past Avonmouth the other week, the docks there that are normally chocka with new cars were half empty. Could this be that during the good...

Re: Door noise

When the road is wet and the tyres are throwing up spray, I too can hear this noise from the bottom of the drivers door but only when doing over 50. Never reported it to VW and there are no apparent leaks so happy to live with it for now.

Re: What is it like then? PLEASE READ!

Mate, I went from a golf GTI to the rocco, both modified to quite a degree. What I will say is that the standard 2.0 TSi felt a little underwhelming until it was remapped whereas the golf felt all of its 200 horses. However, on my run off a roundabout down a straight dual carriageway, the roc matche...
