Re: Emissions - recall letter
Fair point Bob - I have no intention of having it done soon. I'll be changing my car in the next few months so will probably leave the decision to the next owner. Just wanted to highlight a potential issue. My big decision isn't whether to have it done or not, but what to buy to replace the roc.

Emissions - recall letter
With regard to the NOX issue, I received my letter today and find the wording slightly concerning. It states "I can confirm that there will be no change to you vehicle's engine performance, maximum torque or noise levels. The performance data already published for your vehicle including fuel co...

Re: Windscreen advice
My local garage/MOT station have confirmed that it won't be an MOT fail as scratching not too obstructive. They also suggested accidentaly dropping a hammer on it - even offered to lend an appropriate hammer!

Re: Windscreen advice
Thanks both - wasn't sure that wiper damage would be covered as it could be viewed as being neglect rather than accidental damage (although in my case, definitely wind damage).

Windscreen advice
Looking for opinions. Heading up the M6 in torrential rain and wind, the (aftermarket) passenger side wiper blade broke off leaving just the plastic mounting block wiping over the glass. Obviously couldn't stop nor could I switch off wipers and end result is what looks like a scratched opaque line a...

Nearly £400 for an alarm horn? Is this the same thing for £25 on eBay?

Re: Does anyone know how the MPG calculator works?
Thanks for that - mine has always read about 5mpg high. I tend to get around 50-53 mpg and the display always claims 55-58.

Re: Main dealer or Independent dealer for a service?
Apologies for bumping an old thread, but I'm facing the same dilemma. The warranty on my 'roc expired four days ago (sailed through the first MOT btw, no advisories) and my service indicator tells me I need a service in 700 miles. It's done 48,000 miles and when I got the last service done on the se...

Re: What to do for winter?
Winter tyres are worth there weight in gold IMO. Remember they work better in any condition lower that 7degC which is quite often in the UK so snow tyres is a bit of a misguided name. A few years back (pre-roc), my front tyres needed changed just prior to winter. My local tyre place suggested fitti...

Re: What to do for winter?
I had mine in snow last year - absolutely Ghastly performance in snow! Torque + tyre size etc.... Let's hope we don't get snow! but given our record in the last 3 - 4 years; I wouldn't hold my breath. Get Winter tyres as someone suggested This year (March AISTR) was my first experience of serious s...

Re: 4th service/cam belt
I've never seen the mileage limit being 40k miles. On some petrols it was 60k miles but on the common rail diesel it is around.120k miles. My dealer has quoted 120k and 140k miles on diffetent occasions but for the majority of people it's done on time. Best to check with your dealer as it changes a...

Re: 4th service/cam belt
Bob - do you know if it's still 40k for post9/2009 cars? Or have they increased the mileage limit as well as the time period?

Re: Low miles? How old are your tyres?
With only 10k on, I'd imagine there's a fair bit of wear left on them. I just got my BT back from the 20k service (the car's just over 14 months old) and both rear tyres have an even 6mm left. If I was doing as low mileage as you, I'd probably be tempted to rotate the tyres once in their life - but ...
