lacquer peeling off the wheel

Any of you guys inspected your alloys recently ? Whilst washing the motor the other day noticed the lacquer peeling off one of the wheels. 
Took it to the dealers and they photographed it and said they would report it to VW and for me to expect a call from them soon with a replacement wheel. I hope this isn't the beginning of a long line of wheel claims as I know the 18" Monzas on the Golf GTi were notorious for the "white worm" corrosion.
