Which Bluetooth

Post by NastyNick83 »

Hi guys,

Sorry - I know this has been covered to death, but I can't find a definitive answer as to which module I should go for...
I have a 59 plate Scirocco GT with the RCD510 (I think that's right - DAB but no SatNav) and white MFD.

Currently does not sync with my iPhone (not compatible) so strongly suspect I have the old rcrap module.

Searches reveal 2 main modules and I can't fathom what the differences are or if only one of them will work?
9W7 7P6035730C
or
5N0035730D

Actually, I think I've just realised as I type the difference. Is the 9W7 for the SatNav unit and the 5N0035730D for the non-SatNav?

Thanks
Nick

Either can be used with RCD510 and RNS510 - the 5N0 unit is a newer unit and would be the one I would go for if I was replacing a rSAP unit.

Surely coding is only required if you don't have the factory fitted bluetooth installed before fitting the replacement module?!

As you would be removing the old unit with the coding on it the new unit usually needs coding, some work out of the box too, but when VAG com'd they can show errors.

You need the 5N0035730D which supports both rSap and normal BT profiles (iphone). Great module.

My dealer recommended me to add a Basic version, not Premium because it can work with most phones.

Is there a module for red cluster which can work with rSap and with normal BT profile like this 5N0035730D?

There is, but its damn old and not worth it. I bought the 5N0 035 730A for my red MFD but I did so cos my phone supports rsap.

I bought the 5N0 Bluetooth module and all seems to work fine with my iPhone. Great stuff.

However the quality is rubbish. I can hear them fine through the speakers but any speeds over 40mph and they can barely hear me. I've had reports of it sounding like I'm in a wind tunnel and riding a horse among others...

I've tried other phones including a windows mobile device and Nokia and none of them are any better... VW told me everything was fine (but they only tested it up to 30mph).

Any thoughts boys and girls?

Your wiring harness is at fault. Which one did you get?
