Hi,
I recently discovered that my rocco has some sort of cooling problem after the fan coming on whilst on the motorway! when i pulled over it seemed to have used a bit of coolant, white spatters could be seen around the back of the fan and tubing and there was a distinct warm smell coming from the engine bay...
needless to say i'm a little concerned since the car has only 12k miles on it and due for a service in 2 weeks time.
the temp guage does not go above 90, but the fan continuously coming on and loss of coolant level is worrying me.
Can anyone shed any light on the subject, or if this is happening to anyone else???
Many thanks
Jo

One possibility is that a stone thrown up has punctured the radiator, they can be like bullets at 70mph and you don't see them.
Although I would also expect intercooler problem causing loss of some power and possibly problems with the Air-conditioning not working. May be the stone got through the intercooler and air con without puncturing it but the engine coolant radiator copped it.
Or simply there is a coolant radiator fault has developed.
Whatever, as shaun says, you should get it seen to as soon as possible, ideally prior to your service visit.
Temperature gauge, they don't move despite the engine loads changing like older cars. Not to be trusted 100%, only a comfort indication.

Re: coolant or dodgy fan?
So... i left my car in this morning to get checked out. On the way to the garage then catalytic converter light flashed up onto hte dahsboard. (Perfect timing for a trip to the garage)
Has anyone any idea if a faulty cat converter would cause significant warm smells and overheating of the engine? They also mentioned something about an exhasut filter valve which needs replaced as this could cause overheating too.
Rage!!!!
