Thinking of having front mudflaps fitted

Any experience with these?

Its alarming how much crap gets thrown along the sides of the roc from the front tires.
Anyone think the car still looks ok with em on? any pics?

VW Notts will fit em for £86

VW TT on here had some fitted, he recently removed them after having coilovers put on and they have rubbed away the paint under them, i personally would not have them near my car !!

I have the VW ones fitted. Did them myself. Checked while waxing the Scirocco on Thursday. No evidence of paint damage. They've been on since new in November 2009.

Hi,

Yeah my car is in the bodyshop at the moment having the damage repaired under warranty. Basically I was told after a year or two on the car any dirt and grit between the paint and the mud flaps will have slowly rubbed away at the paint and caused damage. Its is very noticeable and needed fixing. It took a lot of arguing with VW to get them to do it under warranty. They originally just said "put them back on!", untill I asked about corrosion and paint warranty etc and then they changed their mind and decided to fix it!

I certainly won't fit mud flaps again on my cars. However if you really want to have them, I have been told you can get paint protectors for them. These I have been told are like small clear vinyl strips that you put on the bodywork under the flaps to stop this sort of damage. I don't think VW do these and I haven't looked into it myself, but worth a thought if you really want the mud flaps.
