What looks best on a rocco that's not lowered, 18 or 19"?

Hi all,

It's winter here in Norway for a few more months, but I'm already doing a little planning on which summer tires to go for when the summer arrives.

Today I have the original R-Line 18" alloys "Mallory", 235/40-18. These are now fitted with rubber for the winther. Pics of the Mallorys can be seen here: http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... =13&t=7377" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Basically I had decided to go for some 19" alloys for the summer, but now I'm not sure what will look best on my car. My plan was initially to lower the car, and I know that 19" alloys look great when lowered. I have now decided that I probably will not lower the car this summer, so the big question for all you guys is: What does look best on a rocco that's not lowered, 18" or 19" alloys?

Another option if I choose to go for 18" for the summer is to put summer tires on the "Mallory" alloys, and buy some cheaper 18" alloys next winter, and put the winter tires I allready have on those. What do you think?

Mine's dropped about 35mm and I'm running 19's summer and winter (just went 19" from 17"). I think the Roc looks super with 19"s and some moderate lowering. If it wasn't my daily driver or if I didn't have kids I'd probably drop it a bit more, but I find this perfect.

Is it lower in the front, or is it just because it's standing in a slope? Which lowering springs do you use, H&R?

Mine is standard height (albeit R height) and it looks OK IMO, It would look better with a drop but the ride is firm as it is

The 19" you have on yours do look good with your ride height as well, blue. Does anyone know if the R is lower than the standard rocco per default? From these pictures it does look quite the same, but it's hard to tell exactly.

The VW brochure says it's lowered by 10mm but it doesnt state 10mm over which version !, please note the picture of mine with silver alloys was on the day of delivery and the springs had not settled much

*edit just checked the scirocco brochure and it looks like the height of the R is 10mm less than the GT

I have also read that the rocco is 10mm lower than the golf, but that is just the chassis height i believe.

Thanks Unfortunately I can't take credit for this one since I bought it as is, except for the new winter wheels just added.

It's Eibach PRO springs only, 35mm if I'm not wrong. Got the packaging in my garage, but I'm pretty sure. It's just the hill that makes it look lower in the front. Here it is on level ground:

Black is such a nice color both in general and on the Roc, but unfortunately it's a bitch to keep clean. My last project was black and I loved it, despite all the washing

Yeah, ditto that. But it's worth it for sure. Love it in black, even though the rocco looks great it all colours. Took it for a wash two days ago, and now it already look like it's never been washed before

No problem whatsoever. I have the adaptive undercarrige and "Comfort" setting is actually quite comfortable, however, there was a noticeable difference from the original 17" winter wheels to the 19"'s I have on now...hehe...but for a lowered car it's very comfy, and the adaptive undercarrige definitely comes to it's own more with the lowering kit. I've tested both with and without.
IMO the Roc (like most other similar cars) needs at least a moderate lowering to prevent it from looking like a monster truck...

Whereabouts in the country are you? If you're close you can catch a ride some day and see how it feels I'm just outside Oslo (Skedsmokorset).

Yeh she knew I was lying, well she did when I went to pick it up and the only parking space was at the side of my new scirocco and I had to park them side by side lol, she wanted me to get and S3 you see :-)
