passenger window stopped working then worked again

hi folks ive only had my 1.4 tsi a few weeks last night my girlfriend tryed to put the passenger window down and it wouldnt work i tryed with the drivers switch and that also didnt work then it did work and the window went down but wouldnt go back up til i had turned the car off and on this all happened within a few minutes is this a fault or is there some way we locked the passenger window as my old car had a lock feature for it cheers .

It had happened to me couple times too. passanger window didn't operate from both switches (passenger door and driver door) and couple minutes later (i didn't evet stopped the car) it started working again. I don't know what causes this
