Hi i know this has probably been covered and ive done a search but cant seem to find the answer so can anyone help

day time running lights are on when the switch is 0 so can anyone tell me if the front and rear lights work in tandem and are the front lights just as bright as if you have your lights on anyway?
to me it doesnt seem any different. but when i switched to dipped only the side lights in the grill are on so im confused by this.

Simon

In simple terms as its late..
Drls = dipped beam on

Light switch settings (off the top of my head until I can check my car or a light switch picture)
0 = drls unless you have turned them off via whatever method (vagcom etc) in which no lights on at all
Second position = sidelights
Third position = dipped beams

It sounds like you are only turning the lights onto sidelights & not all the way to dipped beams

i knew i forgot a position on the switch :doh:
in auto with drls activated your lights will be on regardless as the drls effectively override the 'auto' function

& regarding the 0 position yes they will be on as the drl function is active, to have 0 as off & auto as automatic the drls must be switched off (in your case by vagcom due to your car being an MY2011) otherwise the drls override these functions

Simon,

Front and rears on with DRL's in "0" and ignition ON. Nothing with ignition OFF.

Switch to AUTO, with ignition ON, DRLs are on still as the dipped headlights and also front sidelights/rears. Ignition OFF, no light at all front and rear.

Switch to Sidelights, with ignition on, outer dipped headlights ON (DRLs again) and front sidelights ON. Ignition off, front sidelights ON, rears ON in both cases.

Switch to headlights with ignition ON, DRLs are on still as the dipped headlights and also front sidelights/rears. Ignition OFF, front sidelights only.

Main Beam, inner headlights ON and the outer dipped stay ON (no main beam in this position). Obviously rears ON.
