Call history not syncing infotainment screen

Hi, I’m enquiring on behalf of a friend. They have a manual VW Scirocco. The problem they are having is the Samsung phone is connected to the car fine and you can make receive calls, but the when they check the received calls tab or dialled calls tab it’s always empty. The phone book is syncing fine. Tried unpair and re pairing but this did not solve the issue. Any ideas on how to resolve this?
