2010 1.4 TSI Scirocco | Cylinder 3 misfire

Afternoon!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but my 1.4 scirocco has a misfire on cylinder 3.
It also makes a ticking rattling noise when accelerating, engine light flicks on, EPC light comes on and enters limp mode.

My mate/mechanic has done a load of diagnostics from changing sparks, coils, plugs and running compression tests.

We get compression on all 4 cylinders but even if we swap over the coils/plugs the issue stays with cylinder 3.

I am now being told I possibly need a new engine but wondered if anyone has had a similar issue before.

Is it worth getting my engine remanufactured/rebuilt or putting a new remanufactured engine in?

Trying to weigh up the costs and what's worth it, ideally I want to keep it but been causing me loads of issues the last 12 months so might be worth selling.
