A several problem never solved after 1 year

Post by Evernash »

Hello to the whole team and sorry in advance if my English is bad at times.

I'm the "happy" purchaser of a Scirocco 2008 model, 225,000km 2.0 TDI but since more one year, I have a several problem.

Let me explain:

Every 3 weeks - 1 month (it's very periodic) my engine heats up quickly (summer and winter) the problem continues a few days before being deactivated and restarting 3 weeks - 1 month later), without me doing anything it would be.
The symptoms are as follows:

- Motor that heats up quickly when reaching 90 ° (does not go beyond)
- Idling around 1000t per minute (800 in normal times) (with tremors of the exhaust at the rear)
- Burnt smell under the hood
- Whistling noise when accelerating (but I have a new turbo)
- I also gain power WHILE the problem is active (incredible)
- The radiator obviously starts up

Here's everything I changed while my problem was still there:

- DPF regeneration: OK
- Turbo fully replaced
- Calorstat replaced
- EGR valve fully cleaned

Is this a turbo solenoid valve problem?
Injectors?

I don't know what to do anymore ... I explained the problem to 3 mechanics but they don't know ... please help me guys, I don't wanna sell it, I love her

Thanks to all!

These are just normal symptoms for when the DPF regenerates.
There is nothing wrong with your car.

Thank you for your reply.
However, it smells very much of burnt and I forgot to mention that there was white smoke if I accelerated strongly enough during the trouble.
The problem is present between 2 and 5 days so it's not possible isn't it ?

It's exactly as Roy says, it's normal operation when the DPF is regenerating. The burning smell is because of the heat involved to burn off the particulates and the white smoke is them burning off through the eshaust. If you switch off the engine before the regeneration is complete the radiator fan will run on for approx. 5 mains.

If you coolant level is ok, then i wouldnt worry too much.
It regenerates the dpf around every +/- 700 km.
And it will smoke when accelerating sometimes.
You can also check the ash level of the dpf with diagnostic software.
