Mystery Leak

Post by Markmalade666 »

Hello,

Last week I noticed a puddle under the car and the coolant reservoir was pretty low. I took it to the garage and they replaced the water pump.

The next day there was a bigger puddle than before but I figured it could have been residual. Took it back to the garage to be sure and he said everything looked dry in the bay. So I left it parked up overnight and came out to check, there doesn’t appear to be a puddle but noticed this drip on the black metal part in the middle …any ideas what it could be? I’m not sure if it’s more amber coloured than pink coolant so hoping I’ve not done my water pump for no reason

It's not exactly clear from your post where the drip is coming from but check it's not coming from the drain for the air conditioning. It's normal for it to drip and in some cases leave a puddle especially in hot weather.

If you suspect you still have a coolant leak, have the garage pressure test the system. Coolant also leaves a white residue when it dries.

If it's amber, it might even be a local cat or dog relieving themselves. :)
