Scirocco purchase

Hello all. I am new to this site. I am considering purchasing a late registration Scirocco (17/67) and would welcome some advice. I have been a big advocate of SEAT for many years, having had several Leon’s - Cupar and FR - and currently have an Ibiza 1.0TSI FR Sport, which is a great little car. However, having had an 11 reg. Scirocco back in 2013/14, I still have a hankering to get one again. I previously had a 2.0TDi GT which was a great car to drive. I always liked the Scirocco for its style and driving experience. I would actually be going backwards in terms of reg. but just think if I don’t get another now, I will regret it. So I would welcome your opinions on which one I should get. I know I would want the GT spec, but am in two minds re. engine size. I like the idea of the 1.4TSI 125bhp but have heard mixed reports on it. Should I go for the 2.0litre 180bhp instead? Out and out performance isn’t that critical to me, as I do want to get a decent mpg as well. So a few questions to answer. Would the 1.4TSI engine in a 17/67 reg. Scirocco be reliable? What are it’s pitfalls and potential issues? Would the mpg on the 2.0litre model be a lot lower?

I have just bought an 18 reg 2.0 tsi 180, I have only had it 5 weeks and it's my 1st scirocco but I absolutely love it. I'm getting about 36mpg. I would recommend one.
