***UPDATED*** exhaust light flashing on dash... :(

Post by pat15312 »

My exhaust warning lamp has popped up for the second time...
I'm beginning to think I should take notice of it...
So I'm gonna get it taken in to be fixed by VW under warranty, I was wondering if anybody knows what might be worng with it?
Its running 97ron fuel and a 220hp Revo remap (increase of 60hp over stock).
Wether or not this has something to do with it remains to be seen...

Take it to a dealer and they will chuck it on the diagnostics (you knew that) and it will prob come up with a code along the lines of "catalytic converter efficiency below threshold" . I got this on my MKV GTi after a remap and full Milltek system, never did the engine any harm. Suggest not mentioning the remap at this stage.
I suspect that your remap is kicking out more emissions than the threshold settings and triggering the light. See what VW say and if its not a faulty sensor then have a word with REVO, perhaps this amount of output is a step too far for the engine management parameters which I guess would be based around a healthy stock engine.
Taken delivery : Silver, DSG, NAV, Black Leather, Park Sensors, Winter pack.

Mods: Full Milltek, KW lowering springs,Wheel Spacers, Remapped to 258BHP, 405Nm

Until then don't you have some tax returns to do Mr. Accountant? ;)

Cheers for the reassurance sir_rocco!
Bollocks to emissions! I'll worry about that in a few years time when it comes to MOT time.

Pat when revo put the Ed30 map on our GTI it had a slight misfire at 6,500 in 3rd, 4th and 5th :eyepop: revo tweaked the settings and it has been cured, i've ramped the settings up on select+ given its back on 98ron and no issues, revo maps ain't a fan of sh#tty fuel either

Hmm that's food for thought...
I'll get on to Revo about it, I'm sure they'll want to make sure there map performs at all revs and at all speeds.
I'm running 97ron as that's the highest I can (reasonably) get hold of.
