Rear seat folding mechanism
I was wondering if anybody has had any problems with their rear seat folding mechanism failing. When you release the rear seat catches both sides move normally to about 5 degrees and then do not move any further. Have looked inside the pivoting mechanism (from the boot) but there does not appear to be anything (eg a penny) stopping them. Any help much appreciated.

I have the same problem on one side only, I can get it to fold fully down by poking a finger into the mechanism, must take it apart some time to fully investigate

Hi our 2013 Scirroco has the same fault on the left hand seat it releases and moves forwards 5 degrees or so and then stops.
Was it easy to get the hinge bar out and fix?

I have the same issue on a 15 plate Scirocco. At the moment it is only the left hand seat that is affected

Re: Rear seat folding mechanism
Hi folks , this has just happened on my car also . The left hand rear seat unhooks when the lever next to the headrest is pulled - but then only swings down / forward by a couple of inches then stops hard. The right hand seat operates normally and folds all the way down without any proplems .
I found this old thread where other owners have had the exact same issue - but no mention of what was wrong or how to fix it ?
Does anyone know please ?

Re: Rear seat folding mechanism
Sussed it ! . Despite other VW forum answers saying that the latch mech is the same as golf 5/6 , its not !
Although operated from the centre of the seats in the middle of the car - the latch mech's are on the outside edges and operated by a cable - there was no fault here.
In the centre of the rear seats at the bottom by the boot floor, there's a further hinge with a roller catch mechanism . The boot carpet had got wedged down there and was preventing the roller catch dropping to its fully extended position.
With the offending piece of carpet flicked out of the way , the rear seats now fold down fully - yay ! i love an easy fix
