Thinking of buying a Rocco, which model?

I'm seriously thinking of buying a scirocco, around a 2010 I think, my commute to work is 15 mile each way, which will be only 4 days as I work shifts. The rest of the time will be local runs round town etc.
I want it to put a smile on my face when I hit the gas!
I would also like a panaramic roof and Bluetooth phone prep as a minimum.
So 2.0 tsi or a dirty diesel, if diesel the its got to be the 170bhp model.
Which model do I need?

Depends if you prefer the sound and smell of petrol or diesel

Having owned only one diesel car in my life (MK2 Golf GTTDi) i certainly don't want to own another

I also do a similar commute to your (12 miles, 5 days a week) and i used to be able to get around 250 miles out of £40 worth of diesel around 3 years ago, i can now get 230 miles out of the same amount of petrol in my 2.0 TSi Rocco (works out around 32 mpg), and on a recent trip from Sheffield to Northumberland, i averaged over 40mpg

The only issue with the 170GT second hand is the limited number on offer, especially if you are looking for specific options like the panoramic roof etc.

Not many 2.0 TSi's about either, took me 4 months to find the right one, and i ended up compromising on a few options i wanted

Consumption seems better than I expected. Just been to test drive a 2.0tsi and it was amazing, just put a big grin on my face whenever I put my foot down. Downside though as it never had a glass roof and had a phone button but that just muted the radio!
Is there a way to upgrade the phone button to Bluetooth?
The car was blue which I thought/think looks awesome.

Yep, i love my 2.0 TSi, for me it's just about the perfect balance of performance/economy

Sorry, can't help with the bluetooth question though, but i'm sure it's do-able, guessing it would require the correct bluetooth module fitting and then coding with VAGCOM, mine came with the optional Bluetooth Touch Phone Kit, works great but doesn't actually work with the steering wheel button, has a separate touch screen mounted next to the stereo, it's actually made by Bury, so you could fit an aftermarket device that would look similar to the factory touch kit device

Bluetooth didn't become standard fitment until late in 2011. Up until then it was a cost option. The module is located under the driver's seat and can be retrofitted. It works seamlessly with the headunit, MFSW and MFD. Much better than the Bury solution, IMO.

It will need coded in for it to display on the MFD.

By the way...the panoramic roof isn't very panoramic! It only tilts a little bit, it doesn't slide back. Nothing like the panoramic roofs other manufactures do where the windscreen basically goes back halfway down your roof.

It can also look a bit ropey on certain coloured cars, white for example, it just looks wrong IMO, unless you get the rest of the roof wrapped gloss black

Ah ok so the panaramic roof doesn't slide open, in that case then there's not much point to it. Maybe the car I drove earlier could be the one then

So it's a 2.0 tsi Gt 58 plate, 56k, fsh, immaculate condition with near new tyres, wheels are immaculate to(just some corroding on the vw centre caps)
It's up for £8261

Although the panoramic roof only tilts about an inch and doesn't slide it does let in more light into the cabin, which is pretty dark. Although I have it, with nearly every other option, it wouldn't be a deal breaker on a second hand car, if it ticked all the other boxes.

Would agree with that, i bought a 59, and i have to agree the steering wheel is one of the best i have ever grasped in a car, white Multi Function Display is also much nicer than the older red one, i paid £9k for mine in April with 50k on the clock

It was for me, i first test drove a 60 plate, but was out of my budget, then i looked at earlier cars, but couldn't bring myself to buy one with the shitty steering wheel

Just go and look at, and sit in a newer car, and you might feel the same................... but then you might not either

All the changes are listed there. You get the benefit of a lot of minor fixes and a switch to MK6 electronics if you go for a late 2009 onward
