Advice on Sale of beloved Scirocco R

Post by Darthmather »

Hi all, I am looking for some advice on the unfortunate sale of my 2011 rising blue, DSG Scirocco R. Usual story of little one on the way and now on the hunt for something more practical, efficient etc but still can put a smile on my face. Current contenders are Mk2/3 Octavia VRS estate and VW GTD Mk6.

I have made several enquiries to dealers and the max I have been offered is £12,800 and minimum is £11,500.

So my question to the community is what a realistic asking price would be for a private sale. The figure I have in mind is between 14 and 15k. This may be naive and wishful thinking. However it is based on the fact the nearest rival currently on Pistonheads is http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... 955111?v=c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with an asking price of £16k

It has lower mileage than mine and a higher spec but otherwise the same car.

My car details are as follows
2011 DSG Rising Blue
57k
1 previous business owner
Full service history
Cambelt and water pump replaced 3/8/16
Major service, MOT and AC serviced 19/7/16
3 Conti Contact sport 6 tyres with plenty life left
1 P Zero with slight damage to tyre wall but still plenty miles left
19" Talladega alloys fairly minor kerb damage on front two rear two absolutely fine.
Winter optics pack
Bodywork generally excellent condition with some touched up stone chips on the bonnet and a small scratch on front wing.
DSG serviced 27/5/15

I think that covers all the essentials. Would it be wise to replace the damaged tyre and get the front 2 alloys refurbed estimated cost £250 give or take?

No pics just now waiting to get an opportunity to give it a good clean but can provide pics if required.

Thanks very much for any advice and comments in advance.

A dealer will usually offer you around £1500-2000 than what they will put it up for. I think that the offer of £12,800 is very good for a trade in / dealer purchase. You could probably get around 14,000 private once you've been haggled..

Thanks andyy, I would agree with the £1500-2000 they need to make a profit. Annoyingly the offer of £12,800 was for a car I decided was not for me and all the offers for cars that I do want have been considerably less. Sods law.
Perfect that's a ball park figure I had in my head so good to get a bit of confirmation I'm not being daft. Cheers.
