Went to see an R today . . . Help!!!!

Post by aajr »

Hi guys!!

Went to see an R today.

Lovely motor, only thing i noticed was the exhaust produced a bit of white smoke/steam under revs. Also still smoking from one side after engine had been turned off. Is this something to worry about? I can't decide wether its cos of the weather at the moment or maybe its not been driven for a few days etc.

Full VW service history (last July latest)

91k on the clock (was a demonstrator model)

Also what perks does the dynaudio give? I read theres a sub as standard, where is this located? (Thought wheel well but there was a spare wheel in there)

Thanks in advance!!

Hmmm, don't know about the smoke or anything (although it is typical for all cars to look like smoke coming out the exhaust if the weathers cold, like breathing when it's cold) but I would in general Stacey away from most used cars with over 60000miles, unless you're getting a mega good deal, because the amount of money you will inevitably spend in repairs etc will put the eventual price you pay way up. Just my opinion though

Of course totally agree with you, tbh it is in my opinion a very good deal (so it seems) and I have had the upper hand of talking to the previous owner before he sold it to the garage (reason for sale was he couldnt adjust to such a small car from what he was used to). As i said everything else seems spot on, engine sounds great and the interior/bodywork is in great condition for the miles its done. Just the white smoke /steam raising a flag with me.

It will just be condensation from the exhaust. It's only coming from one side because of the exhaust flap on the other side. If the smoke had a blue tinge then that would be a worry.

Dynaudio gives you better quality speakers and an amp under the passenger seat. If it's a pre-facelift model there is no sub-woofer. The sub-woofer is located in the spare wheel well in the facelift models.
