I bought my car with 11,000 miles on it and it was converted to long life servicing when I bought it as I was at the time do a fair amount of miles. 16,000 miles later and I decided to book the car is for a service at Reading vw, looking at the vw website I saw a major service would be due at £299 so booked it in and was told it would be £279 which I thought great cheaper than the website. I asked for brake for a brake fluid change at £59. I also asked that it would be switch back to time and distance servicing. I've just got home and checked the invoice and there is nothing on there to suggest a major service was done. I just shows oil/filter and inspection. I thought as part of the major service the fuel and pollen filter would be changed? I know a minor service according to the website is £149 so have I pais £130 more for the same thing?
Also noticed they have put castrol magnetec in there, I thought vw dealerships use castrol edge?

Yes, as part of the Major service, the pollen filter, fuel filter (diesel cars) and air filter should have been changed and you're right to be agrieved.
The whole minor, major service terms are a creation by VW UK to package services and for dealers to push major services when the car doesn't need them.
Personally I always go for the basic minor service and then tell them what things to chsnge based on time / mileage.
Even with the major service, unless you tell them, they still will only change the items
required based on mileage / age.
I would go back and have a word with them and ask them why

Will do, I'm thinking they have put the wrong oil in there also as castrol magnetic isn't 507:00 so isn't an approved oil

It's really important that they use a 507.00 oil as "lesser" oils risk damage to the.DPF.
