RCD510, Dynaudio... Fader??

Post by Sincs »

Anybody with dynaudio notice that they don't have a front/rear fade option in their RCD510 menu?
If I press the musical note button on the unit I only get the option to change left/right balance.

Mine is factory fitted.

I've got RCD510 and Dynaudio and I'm pretty sure there there is a fader control under the balance control.

Do you reckon you can check the next time you're in your car and let me know?
Much appreciated if you can.

Just checked and yes it has a Fader.

In the Setup tone menu;

First option "treble / mid / bass"

Second option " balance / fader"

Click on this and the balance and fader sliders appear.

Many thanks for checking and coming back to post.

Hmmm... I've got a problem then. Definitely no fader option on mine.
Coding or wiring problem I guess.

Also, another quick question if you don't mind..... have you tried using the aux-in port with a phone or something??
Mine doesn't work. I've connected my phone and played an mp3 but nothing. Tried pressing the media button but it just says 'no media available' or something like that.

No. I've not tried using the Aux-In as I use the use the USB port but I do know that there is a setting you need to activate on the headunit for it to work.

Do you get the "Balance - Fader" button or does yours just say "Balance"?

Just a quick note. Early Dynaudio equipped cars didn't have the "Powered by Dynaudio" on power up.

Can't find anything in settings that refers to aux.

As for the "balance - fader" button.... It just says "balance".

Yep, it displays the little red dynaudio logo.

It might be something completely seperate but I thought I would mention this just incase, when I bought my Scirocco, it was second hand, and the previous owner had decided to remove the uprated iPod connector that comes standard with the car, and they had fitted a bog standard iPod connector that didn't work. Whether they did this to sell it, or fit it to their new car I don't know, my dealer installed the correct one for free. I can't remember the system name unfortunately, but, my AUX port didn't work, I had a few settings off my Interface which wouldn't work, and I had no connectivity with an iPod of course.

I'm wondering if you might have the same issue? I would recommend getting it checked out, as when I had the correct iPod connector fitted, the whole sound system came to life including the AUX port etc.

Thanks

Mine has an iPod connector plugged in and it works fine with my iphone so I assume it's probably the correct one.

Will try unplugging it though and restarting the stereo to see if the aux and fader kicks into life.

Other than that I may take it to to vw, it's still got a years warranty left on the car.

Update for anyone interested... It's all working now.

I checked the coding of the stereo and nothing was in there for the sound system byte.
I coded it to use vw or dynaudio, and also set the rear speakers monitoring to disabled or something.

Fired up stereo again but still no fader option or aux. After I wiped my tears away I did a bit more reading and saw that some people have had to leave the car overnight before changes took affect.
Left the stereo off for about half an hour, turned it back on and... Fader... And aux!!
Since coding the stereo I've noticed that speaker output is lower than it was at the same volume level pre-coding. For example, when volume was set to 50% before coding it was LOUD, but now 50% is a comfortable level. To get to what used to be the 50% level I have to pump the volume almost up to max.

Anyway, I'm happy now, my car feels complete.

Cheers guys.

How did you code it to use vw or dynaudio? What did you use to code it?
