Golf Mk6 Gti for £28k anyone?

Post by martdy »

Just notice the VW website has the new MK6 Gti configurator . I specced it up to my car (as near as damn it ) over £28K :fall:
My Scirocco cost me £24K after discounts and I know which car I'd rather have.
My last car was the Mk5 Gti and was a great car but the Mk6 will have to seriously raise it's game(in 3 door guise ) to take sales from the Roc. Won't stop me taking one for a test thrash though :hyper:

Yes, I noticed it's very expensive too. Ok, what do you get for the extra 4k...?
- 10 extra bhp
- One extra seat
- few more litres boot space
- more rear headroom
- Nicer mk6 dash

Hmmm, I'm not convinced either , unless it's possible to haggle a good 6-7k off the list price!

You also get the XDS Electronic Slip-Differential fitted as standard. Not read any reviews yet on how effective this is? Suspect it won't anywhere near as good as a real one otherwise Ford/Renault/Honda wouldn't be going to the trouble of fitting the real deal to their RS/Type-R models! Would be interesting the know what was involved in retro-fitting this to a Scirocco if it did turn out to be any good though!

quaiffe lcd fitted is about £1,200 on a GTI and an overlooked mod, assuming it will fit a Scirocco

That's the problem. The electronic diff wouldn't be worth considering unless it was less than £500 given you can get the real deal for just over a grand. If I keep the Scirocco past warranty and there's no R version out (or it's mega expensive) I;d be quite tempted to fit a slip-differential and possibly a chip upgrade to 250 bhp.
