RNS 510 - sound problem

Post by skippy »

Had a weird issue on my RNS510 yesterday. Was listening to tracks through my iPod all fine, then suddenly one of the tracks sounded 'wonky', the vocals sounded 'wobbly' for want of a description. I let it complete but another track also sounded strange also at certain points. ps. These tracks have been played fine on numerous occasions previously.

I switched it back to 'radio' mode, but there was nothing there at all, all stations were 'dead'. I switched off/on the unit but still the same symptoms.

The NAV was fine (this was in use) but still the strange sound appeared from the iPod.

I went back to Radio mode (which was still 'dead') and selected 'scan' to re-tune the stations and this bought the system back to life and the Ipod sound seems to have restored ok as well.

Difference yesterday, and rare for me, I was on a very long journey so did travel between different frequency areas and the unit had been on for a long time, but in the 3 1/2 years I have had the car, not experienced this before.

Any one else seen this (or heard this!)?

Cheers.
