RNS 510 sat nav coding itself?

Post by john_w »

I recently updated my rcd510 to an rns510 and found that the sat nav display came up on my red mfd without coding. Im pretty certain that the car came with the rcd510 as thats whats in the hand book so does this mean it has coded itself so to speak?? Anyone else had this? Im hoping the same happens when i fit my bluetooth!! john

Coding in the diagnostics is manual. Suspect the Scirocco had a RNS510 in before. Just the RNS510 coding in the CAN Gatewway controller 19 was not removed. Seen it in several cars with the untidy configuration left in place and associated fault codes registered due to the missing unit. You've probably got Byte 5, Bit 1 and Byte 4, Bit 6 both ticked.
