Hi all,
Today on my way home from work a 'check tyres' message popped up on the display. I never paid extra for the tyre pressure loss feature nor do any of the tyres appear deflated. However my front are pretty much on their last legs in terms of them being bang on their weasr limits.
Q. Am I right in assuming the Scirocco has some way to detect of low tread ? (if so thats pretty cool).
Thanks
Tyre warning light for low tread?

No.
If you've got that message you have TPMS - check glove compartment if there's no button alongside the ACC one.
TPMS became standard in 2010 (I think it was)

Re: Tyre warning light for low tread?
Have you checked the pressures XL / reinforced tyres don't really show low pressure with a visible bulge unless they're properly flat.

yeah that button was present and the reset did the trick - one of my rear tyres had lost a couple of PSI.

A couple of psi would not trigger it to warn if it was literally that. That is within the operating tolerance (On maturity of the learning process following a button Reset, detection tunes up to about 4 - 5 psi drop before the speedo dial tyre warning symbol comes on.).mikealpha60 wrote:yeah that button was present and the reset did the trick - one of my rear tyres had lost a couple of PSI.
I think you have had a Steering Sender sensor or the wheel circumference from the ESP data failure.
It needs diagnostics (VCDS or VW dealer) to perform "Basic Settings" on Group 042 in the ABS Brakes Controller - 03. Then the reset button pressed again. Some fault codes may be present which should be cleared down.
The TPMS may have been switched off perminantly in the controller due to the lack of data transmission until the Group 042 is actioned.
