Winter tyres and steel rims

Post by scimitar »

I am intending to fit a set of steel wheels and winter tyres to my car this winter- I know they don't look great but made a huge difference to the wife's Corsa last year. Am buying them now as prices will rocket as winter gets near
Intended rims are 16inch 6.5J and intended tyres are Vredstein Snowtrack 205/55/16. I cannot find any information about what 6.5J means, are these tyres suitable for the rim width?

Any help much appreciated

6.5j relates to the width and the j relates to the tyre bead seating

I understand that 6.5J relates to rim width but how wide is it and what size tyre will it accomodate

It's 6.5" (stock wheels are 8"). Various size tyres will fit. Try the ones you're considering in the tyre size calculator which is stickied on here.
