sat nav to media and back?!

Hi,
RNS510 is causing me frustration - please help!
Problem: - merrily tootling along in sat nav mode - bored with radio so switch to media - to select the usb stick based music - fine and dandy! - press Nav to return to the sat nav display and, as far as I can tell I have to stop/start the navigation - or am I missing something? surely it should be user friendly enough to think - ah he's just chosen some music - so when he's done I'll continue navigating without prompting?

Question:
Is this behaviour normal or am I missing something fundamental? i.e. brain in neutral?

this and the inability for 'mix' to randomise from any point is starting to niggle ;-)
