Hi all,
I've just had a 5N0 VW bluetooth unit fitted to my car, and wonder if anyone has experienced the below (regardless of exact model number).
When I go to Media and press bluetooth, initially it gets the song name from my phone, plays but you hear nothing... Upon pressing the selection button, then choosing bluetooth I get a screen that just says 'bluetooth-audio' with all the buttons greyed out, but I get sound..
Wondering if I've mis-coded or whether this is just how it is.. Tried with an iPhone 4 and Blackberry and the same happens.
Any help very much appreciated.. The phone kit is miles better than fiscon, but the A2DP is a bit weird until I can get it behaving predictably!

Re: VW Bluetooth A2DP weirdness?
Have you got the phone plugged into the media socket?
It sounds to me it's picking up the song track via the MDI and then when you press bluetooth you get the audio.
When I play music from my phone over bluetooth I just get the audio, you don't get the data such as track name.
If I have my phone plugged into the MDI it plays the music and I get the track name etc..
In summary, I think yours is working correctly

Re: VW Bluetooth A2DP weirdness?
Thanks for your reply.. I have a USB stick plugged into the MDI, so this is why its weird..
iOS5 added the support to send track names over bluetooth for the iPhone, but I get two very different behaviours from the Media part of the RNS.
1) I go to selection, choose Bluetooth and get 'bluetooth-audio' screen with disabled buttons, audio streams fine when I press play on the phone.
or
2) I press the bluetooth icon at top right of media in screen, get a screen (much like the ipod controls) where it shows the track name and starts my phone playing, but no audio.
As I said, does this on a blackberry or iPhone, I'm wondering if the coding is wrong.. Its workable, but confusing and feels like a bit of a fudge. I can't understand why it acts so differently, depending on what button is pressed. I've changed all the settings I can find in the MFD, but none seem to have much impact.
Thanks
Martin

Mine operates as you describe in 1) above.
I only get controls and track name when I'm playing off the USB stick

Re: VW Bluetooth A2DP weirdness?
I'm thinking the coding can't be right then... something definitely odd.. which unit do you have?
So if you press the bluetooth symbol at top right on media, do you still get the same response as per option 1) ??

I don't know what unit is is as I ordered it with the car. Not tried to push the BT symbol. Next time I'm in the car I'll have a look.

Thanks, appreciate it... If its just how it works, then I can relax but if not its either a visit to someone with VCDS or purchasing a cable for me

Re: VW Bluetooth A2DP weirdness?
Just to add to this thread for knowledge purposes. I've found a resolution to the issue I described, which is a coding change.
In VCDS / 77 Telephone module long coding, changing bit 7 to "10" (Mutimedia function available, multimedia context via headunit inactive) fixed it, ensuring just standard bluetooth behaviour persists, as in my option 1) above.
Thanks to Cuprabob for adding to the thread,
Martin

Re: VW Bluetooth A2DP weirdness?
Glad you got to the bottom of it. Apologies, I forgot to check mine when I was in the car
