Re: Vag-Com cable
You need a cable with CAN-support, and a newer version of vagcom.

Re: Vag-Com cable
I emailed ross tech the same question and you do indeed need the micro can usb cable. This works on most cars from around 2004, if you want it to work on everything back to the nineties, you need the hex can cable.

Hi,
i have a 2010 Scirocco 2.0 with RCD510. i want to install bluetooth in my car. i was told that 9w7 bluetooth module is really awesome, however i need VAG COM cable and software to complete the installation. I've never used a VAG com before.
1) can someone post the link of the exact model of the cable i need to buy? ( i think it needs to be CAN support).
2) is the cable easy to use?
thanks :-)

Re: Vag-Com cable
Hi Khalid - welcome.
I got my 9W7 UHV/RSAP AD2P (7P6 035 730 C) module from *bluewagen* on e-bay UK for a very reasonable price, when compared to other stores/retailers - no issues with the courier/shipping. My country wasn't listed and asked him if he was willing to ship to my part of the world, he did

Re: Vag-Com cable
There is a handbook on the Ross-Tech website to give you the basic functionality of the software/interface. Some of the screens are interactive.
Detail tutorial generally comes from reading DIY topics in forums. There are some in our VCDS Forum.
And a lot in the VWVortex forum. Bear in mind these are generally american market procedures which can differ due to the controller firmware standards used by VW in the North American markets.
Also here there is useful information
The model if you have white dash dials on yours is to look at Golf Mk6 information.
But bear in mind what may work on one VW model will not necessarily read across to work on the Scirocco. That is down to individual firmaware build standards of the controller unit you are trying to re-configure.

Re: Vag-Com cable
The worse that could happen is you may need to visit the dealer to re-programme a controller if you set a bit in one of the bytes of a controller and you are "just fiddling" with the controller. Some bits are not reverseable. They are far and few but they DO exist.
General rule is for someone like yourself to only follow known good procedures when making changes and check they apply to your year of Scirocco.
People will have already tried these procedures and therefore you should be safe as a newbie to the diagnostic tool package. If a feature is shown in the VCDS displays, it doesn't always mean it will work for your own car. VCDS covers several vehicle models in one display so you will see options that don't work on the Scirocco. Or they only work on earlier or later Sciroccos. If you fiddle with the controllers, its at your own peril.
For instance, cruise control is on your list of wants. There are two installations on the Scirocco, pre Wk45 2009 (dash with three aircon/heater control knobs) and post Wk45 2009 (aircon/heater displayed through the Radio screen). Coding is different as is the parts that you will need. Its covered in topics here on Scirocco Central.

Re: Vag-Com cable
AFAIK if you didn't take the bluetooth when the car was ordered, then the mic won't be fitted - you would need to do this yourself.
If done properly, it'll take some time (an afternoon) - this includes properly routing the mic cable from behind the RNS unit, under the driver's side of the dash, behind the door-pillar plastics and windscreen plastics/molding, then into the central roof light module - the mic will fit into the space provided.
All this can be done using a plastic pry tool set (Bojo or similar) and the following thread - I routed my mic wire on the windscreen side of the A pillar, as I was not comfortable dismantling it with the airbag so close - just took a little while longer with the plastic tools to pry away the trim just enough on the windscreen side, to get the cable routed just under the trim. Same for along the top of the windscreen, routed behind the headliner.
Good luck and shout if you get stuck!
