bluetooth phone kits

Post by lukeking »

I'm trying to find a rectrofit phone system.

I have identified two of interest which are worlds apart on price.

1. Motorola VW TK30, £199
2. Fiscon VW Basic, £299

The motorola system looks much better value but i need the audio quality for work calls.

Can anyone advise?

I had a fiscon kit fitted the other week at Richter Sports, very pleased with the sound quality when receiving calls, also no complaints from people when I have rang them up. I had the mic mounted near the sunroof controls as I did not want the mic on display.

Nice additional feature with the fiscon kit is that the oil and water temp temperatures are displayed on the MFD, turbo boost can also be displayed but it is software / ecu dependant and on my 2008 vehicle it was not available.

Any reason why you don't want the latest VW bluetooth kit?

I had a Fiscon unit and it was fine - swapped it out for a VW unit (post rSAP era and mainly because i wanted rid of the mic on the a-pillar) and it's much more integrated. Get some anomolies on the MFD (boxes instead of signal strength) and suspect that's because the car's too old to properly recognise the unit but it's miles better than the Fiscon. I think the audio quality is better with the VW unit too.

+1 for the VW unit - I grabbed one of these (Part: 7P6 035 730 C) in December, and self-installed it a few months back (very easy afternoon job), and the quality is great - as said above, it's much more integrated...and my MFD works perfectly ;)

I would go with the VW unit too, but would go for the newer D or A unit.

I'm thinking about a retrofit too, but I don't know with module should I take, I have red cluster and RCD510. which is Premium with menu on radio: 9ZU, 9W2 or 9W8? In which I have to install aerial for phone?

Numbers of modules in ETKA for my VIN
9ZU: 5N0035730C
9W8: 1K8035730D
9W2: 1K8035730D
