my car has been in main dealer since dec 2010 with a cold start misfire problem, other customers have had similiar tales to tell we have like them had 4 new coil packs four new injectors soft ware updates loads of transplant bits swapped from another scirocco dealership md wifes car!!
the engine head was taken off and fully examined no problems found so new engine fitted 6 weeks ago still no fix to misfire problems, four and a half months of volkswagen milton keyes talking with my dealer and now germany involved who sometimes take a week to respond meanwhile the customer is not driving his scirocco!!
we now are trying to get a replacement car after meeting the md of the dealership the car has done 11k miles and was a may09 arrival lets hope volkswagen are going to play ball we have lost all confidance with what was voted one of the best new cars in o9
has anybody else had a worse experience with there 1.4tsi 160 bhp model
we were assured the dealer could fix it but other blogs have also given us no confidence.

The diagnostics system should be advising the dealer why the engine misfires... e.g. sensors, electrics etc..
I'd be surprised if the dealer will replace a 18 month old car unless you only recently purchased it? or VW decide to buy it back as goodwill.
Four months and still no fix does sound a very poor show by the dealer however I assume they've provided a courtesy car.
