Delays with xenon's and sunroof Friday 30th Jan

Before I ordered my Scirocco today I had a good long talk with VW UK regarding the much talked about delay issues with xenon lights and panoramic sunroof. The guy at customer services was excellent he took time to go and check with whoever deals with these things and telephoned me back once he got all the information, so here it is…

Xenon’s are now off the options list and have around a 30 week delay.

Sunroofs are not delayed the customer service guy put a test order to the factory with my cars specification and it gave an estimated of build of week 14 with delivery in May.

That’s the latest info from VW as of today Friday 30th Jan.

It's good that VW customer services spent time explaining the situation, however I wouldn't believe a single word of it!!!

If there are no delays on roofs, why did my factory order move from build week 12 to 22, and I'm told will have moved even further back now. Also the plant that Roc's are built in is shutting down for 12 days.

As helpful as VW customer service may be, don't forget they ARE VW and want to sell cars, they will tell you anything to get you to place an order right now!

If i'm wrong then that's great for everyone frustrated with long build dates.

30 weeks !!?!?

So if I want xenons I'll have to wait until 2010 to get my car...Might have to start looking for alternatives to the Scirocco.

I agree that there must be a delay with sunroofs. My dealer has confirmed it, as he had no other way to explain the fact I ordered my car on the 2nd of November 2008!! With a build date of week 3 2009.... Then for no apparant reason it jumped to week 22!! I was livid, that's over 7 months to build a f##king car!!

Now yesterday I was told that my build date had jumped down to week 14. This is good news but still not good enough as I am now going to be without a car for about 10 weeks, instead of the 4 as planned. Vw are going to have to make some efforts to compensate me.

Back to what you were talking about... Vw will tell you what you want to hear! When I ordered I made It clear that I had to get it on march 1st. My salesman made it out to be an almost impossability that I wouldn't!! He even found the idea funny and made me feel like i was being paranoid!! Now I am getting the usual.. These things happen/it's not our fault etc.. I will never cancel my order as I waited for this car for years to come out, so I am not gonna give up but it has taken the shine off it a little!!

I don't get the sunroof delay situation.

I was getting my Build week pushed back ever further, presumably due to the roof, til a demonstrator magically popped up in the UK.
When I went to collect my car, they had another in the showroom in silver with a sunroof.

If there are production difficulties or a problem sourcing the parts you wouldn't expect any to make it through.

After being told for the last few weeks that everything was going fine with my car, I've now been told that delivery has been pushed back a month to "late March", presumably because of the sunroof issue. I'm very annoyed to put it mildly and am waiting to hear back from the lease firm that handles our company cars. My Golf GTi lease ends on 6th March, so I don't know what's going to happen after then. I'm half tempted to cancel the Sciroccos order completely and go out and buy a used Cayman privately instead

I don't know what all the fuss is about Have some patience! I ordered on the 13 August . I was only confirmed build week 7 as of 2 weeks ago.that'll be near a 6 month wait! Was told B/W 43 at first!!
Very long winded tale of build weeks all over the place and my mk5 gti dropping in value in the meantime. Did I get upset - Damn right I did
But I wanted a brand new car to my exact spec so I've had to wait. Still trying to get something out of VW uk (useless!) They keep telling me to take it up with the dealer - Why ! If they can't supply the car how can the dealer help.May get mats and sills from my dealer if i'm lucky
So at the mo I'm hoping to collect the car 1st march or just after
