Oil level?

Post by fun meter »

Anyone else find over time the oil level drops a bit? Got my car April 2010, and on the dipstick this morning its just above the minimum? I noticed it dropped a bit after a hot track day, since then has dropped a bit more. Havent had any engine issues, and the only time it gets above 3k rpm oil temp is over 70c. This winter I could count on one hand the amount of times its gone above 5k rpm.
Due for service in April obviously, albeit quite a low mileage car.
Cheers

I understand these engines can use a bit of oil especially during running in

yup it will use oil in first 5k miles i say. gets better after that when engine has loosened up.

I always keep a 1L bottle of top up oil handy incase it gets too low. I check mine every few weeks...at least once a month anyway. But then i do drive it a bit hard. :D

Just bought myself another bottle today. I wouldn't say it drinks oil but mine needs like Chungsters checking regularly ... Note Halfords are giving you a free swarfeega with every 4L bottle :)
