New Bluetooth Module (Highline??)

Post by Scott_mac »

Hi folks, Just ordered my car (yay!) and was checking the specs to ensure it was as i want and have noticed that there appear to be 2 choices for the Bluetooth kit:

One at £250 that appears to just be Bluetooth
One at £300 that is Bluetooth and includes Highline

I thought the Highline was standard? If not, what is it and do i need it!?

That was what i thought, it appears that Highline used to come with the Multifunction Wheel - which i've ordered, so I may well get it anyway and the Bluetooth option just might be an alternative way to get Highline if you don't want the MFW.

Who knows!!

the highline computer is only standard on the GT spec in the UK, so the 1.4 doesn't get it. I definitely agree with blue, for that price get it.

But does it come with the Multifunction Wheel - there seems to be no other option other than it coming with the Bluetooth module?

I certainly want it, but want to make sure I get it without paying twice!!

Just spent 10 looking on the VW site, in both the brochures and the configurator it only ever says the MF steering wheel can be used to control the highline, nothing about it coming with it. Might be one for the dealer, especially as they have now thrown the colour highline upgrade into the mix !!

That's what i'd done and got myself in this mess!

Dealer call it is then....

EDIT: What does the Highline actually do by the way???

EDIT AGAIN: From the brochure you can download from the VW site (which is still the old one) there is a picture on Page 21 that appears to show some sort of computer and it is a view of the inside of the 1.4 160bhp version.... from the look it appears that it shows the same info. Even more confused!!!!

off the top of my head the main one is that the highline computer gives you additional menus to change settings (convenience menu being the main handy one)
I thought it came with the MFSW anyway so maybe you do only need to pay £250 to avoid a double charge?

its really what the brochure says:

"providing useful information such as average and current fuel consumption, journey time, outside temperature and range left in the fuel tank"

Also shows current radio station / what media is playing, oil temps etc etc

Like blue & trix say def worth getting for £50 if you dont have it with the MFSW

You get the mfd regardless (mfd being multifunction display, ie the screen in the middle of the dash cluster that shows time, mpg etc etc)
- The standard with the 1.4 is the midline mfd which just revolves round mpg/winter tyre mode/driving time/outside temp/etc etc but does not allow you to change anything
- With the GT trim (or if you upgrade on the standard trim) you get the highline mfd which gives you some increased functionality to change some functions on the car & I think you get to see some other parameters (oil temp) but don't have it so not 100% on that.

OK, am awaiting a price list that should confirm this - the confusion sounds as though it's coming from the new online car configurator being a bit awry - for instance when speccing a 1.4 160bhp it gives you the option to add ACC, which i know is standard - a note attached says it's not standard on the 122ps version... so why does it appear!?!

Based on that it seems that, to clarify, the only Bluetooth kit available for the 1.4 is the £300 one, which includes the Highline. So this suggests the system might work like it does in the new Seat Exeo (we have a few at work) where the called details appear on the Highline display and as such it seems it might be essential.

The £250 Bluetooth option is the one for the GT model...

Hopefully that clarifies it for others!

so progressing from that as you have ordered the MFSW (which should include the highline) you should only need the £250 one... or at least that is my logic

Correct Trix.... MFSW does indeed include Highline also.

Not overly clear is it!!

Does the VW car configuration pages not clarify this ? Usually if you specify an option that affects another option it flags this up and explains how that affects other options and pricing.
Is this just a 122bhp thing - wasn't the case on the 1.4 160bhp before.

I've ordered a 160 not a 122.... but the configurator has been updated and is now all over the shop!
