19 inch not good?

Post by adel218 »

Hi everyone,
Is it true that 19"rims increases the weight significantly which will affects the handling and performance? and because of the sidewalls are ultra thin this would also cause damage on the kerb and rim when hitting holes (malaysia has lots of road holes)

its not the size so much but the weight of the rim, ie you can get lightweight 19s

your risk of damage is due to the sidewalls being not as tall, the side walls are designed to match the speed rating so in reality will be stiffer

So if the rims are lightweight (19s) then it would not affect the handling and comfort?

I have 19", and it feels fine to me. Having said that, I've not driven any other Scirocco.

I recently changed from standard 18's to Rimstock 19's and these are a lot lighter! Couldn't actually believe how heavy the OEM wheels really are! I also think the ride is better now with the 19's probably down to the weight.....

Does anyone know what the is weight of the OEM 19" Talladega wheels on the R?

I'm looking into swapping with BBS CH-R but wanted to verify the weight saving.

Thanks much!
