I was wondering whether revving the car is gud? Every morning I'll let the car run for at least 1 minute before I start my journey. A car next to mine (not a VW) revs his car a few times (superb sound played by his exhaust by the way) before he goes off. Can I do that for my Rocco and what does it do actually?
Another bonus question: I've got the paddle shift control for DSG and was wondering what happens if I pull both paddles shift? Doest it work like the Ferrari where it goes to neutral and revs..

How can you check the oil temperature if I have MY2009 interior (same as golf mk5)?
If the oil temp is not displayed in your mfd then you will not be able to check. Unless you fit an aftermarket oil temp gauge.
If you are concerned about your oil not being upto a suitable temperature to drive sporty etc just make sure your engine is upto normal operating temperature by checking your temp gauge (should be in the middle) at this point your oil is generally on it's way to warming up nicely.

So does revving cause any damage to the engine?
If you switch your engine on while it is stone cold in a morning for example. Then start revving the hell out of it, this will definately not do the engine any good. Like said previously the oil will not be at an optimum operating temperature and will not provide adequate lubrication to the engine.
Just drive steady/normal until your engine temperature is upto normal or if you have oil temp make sure that's over 60degrees at least then feel free to go revving and blasting it around!!
Thank you for the clarification really gud info to know. Skyblues11 you mentioned that you did accidentally shifted your gear from D to N right? Can we actually do that? like shift the automatic gear to manual (pushing it to the left) mod when driving? This question also goes for the sports mod as well..
