? clutch problem on 1.4 dsg

Post by midnight blue »

I've experienced 3 episodes of rev surge accompanied by power loss while travelling at motorway speed. First episode momentary, second 20 miles later, duration approx 30 secs , third 3 miles later. duration 2 mins+, headed for nearest exit and not driven car since, Recovery vehicle driver said he noted similar on driving the car onto the truck. VW dealer unable to identify fault on computer test (but admitted they would be unable to identfy a slipping clutch on their computer tests anyway) or on test drive and initially somewhat insultingly suggested I had knocked to lever out of 'Drive' mode on all three occasions. I've driven 20,000 miles in this scirocco and not any any problems up to now and have certainly not knocked the lever out of 'Drive' mode!

Anybody had a similar problem or any idea what needs fixing. And how I get VW to recognise there's a fault?

Trix many thanks for the info - sounds as though the 7 speed DSG box has the same mechatronics problems as the 6 speed. I'll direct the dealer to it.
