cold DSG

Post by kianok »

When I start the engine from cold the car tries to move forward, it's like starting a manual in 1st gear whilst slippinh the cluch.

Does this happen to anyone else? Once warmed up it's fine.

This probably isn't relevant, but arn't most trannies at bit hard to engage into gears after you've just started up? My moms mk5 golf can be a pain in the ass to get into reverse after cold starting.

Think I'll do just that. It's been -2 in the morning here (Leeds) and it seems to be suffering.

Just doesn't feel right until it's warmed up a bit.

Hope they sort it out for you soon last thing you want to do with a new car is keep going back and forth to the dealers.

In my experience I've only found a handful that have been useful all the rest have really crap after sales, they're all smiles if you want to buy a new car, if you have a question then its "oh I don't deal with that so can't help you" it's like you mean to say you can't even ask your colleagues or make a call to VW on my behalf? that really pisses me off.

I went into a few dealers before buying mine needless to say the first 4 didn't win the sale, I was already sold on the Scirocco I just needed to be sold on the customer service.

Hmmm before you head out tomorrow just check the oil level just incase there is some sort of problem on the way to the dealer or something.

I hate it when there's a fualt that only happens from cold because you have to leave it with them before they can see the fault.

It's definately not normal at all though (we've had a couple of DSG cars).

Thanks guys.

Dealers are dealers when it comes to sorting problems!

Just hope it's not a major problem. Had the car since October with no probs but the cold weather seems to be a problem.

Was hoping for a few 'mine does it all the time, don't worry' but i guess not

Defo not normal mate, needs looking at pronto.

For the non DSG guys etc, the ignition is only active in P so you cannot turn the car over in N or D etc.
Taken delivery : Silver, DSG, NAV, Black Leather, Park Sensors, Winter pack.

I'm with the guys on this, the car shouldnt move anywhere when you start it, I'd have that checked out while the warranty is there :)

If it is mate it’s not for you to worry about even if they have to replace the engine and DSG completely its covered under warranty, and in the time they have your car should supply you with an equivalent courtesy car, don’t put up with a fox or the like. Let us know how you get on I know dealers can be dealers, but VW have an awful track record for after sales in my experience!!

But that’s probably because I was spoiled with my Hondas where I got a fantastic service, to give you an idea they didn’t have an S2000 courtesy car which I can’t say I was surprised by but they gave me a fully loaded Jazz and paid for all my fuel, when I picked the car up I got a bottle of wine! Throughout the time they had the car they phoned everyday to give me an update!!

I love my Scirocco but the service was a bit of a shock and as a consequence if Honda produce anything that tickles my fancy the Rocco will be gone, that said I was looking at an M5 and the sales put me off!! It was nonexistent!! Typical story of young guy surely he can’t afford that well that’s what I put it down too even though I pulled into the forecourt in the Rocco

You win some you lose some but unless we complain they’ll never know
Car is now Sold!!!!! BMW 7 Series for now as nice and big but holding out for something a little special as my toy :)

Forgot how bad dealers can be. Had BMWs for the past few years and being mates with the Service Manager helps!
