Soft Tyres

Post by monkeyman »

Im just wondering if the Dunlops are afficted be temperture? I only poped down to the supermarket this morning with 25 degrees showing on the trip computer and the rear of the car felt rather strange around the many roundabouts I had to go round to go shopping. ( It felt like it was sliding like a car does with a flat rear tyre!) I checked for a flat and any underinflation on all the tyres. With all tyres fine, I gave then a kick and poked and proded then they felt very soft, compressing under a ferm touch. Ill check the pressures when I get a chance in the next week but I was just wondering if it was the heat or have my tyres gone soft and need replacing? Bearing in mind ive only done 5500 odd miles from new. Has anybody come across this aswell or and I just being picky? :?

I've had a Dunlop develop a sidewall bulge in winter whilst being very careful to avoid potholes, which would suggest to me that the rubber is quite brittle when the temperature drops, but not come across overly soft tyres in the summer.
