Rear Brake Noise

Post by Aitch2009 »

I have experienced a noise which seemed to come from the gearbox after I had stopped in traffic on a hill and held on footbrake (DSG). When I released the footbrake and pushed the accelerator it seemed to hesitate and grind the gears as if it could not select properly in both the drive and sport settings. Has any one experienced this? The local VW dealer is telling me it is the rear brakes that are noisy and not the gearbox and it is due to the size of the brakes that the car needs to be driven hard to stop the noise, the car has done 7000 miles. Thanks

Sounds very much like the Hill Hold Control mate . When on a hill the rear brakes are held on for 2 seconds after you release the brake pedal to stop you rolling back . The noise is probably the discs a bit corroded making a noise as they release .Happens on mine from time to time ,don't think it's a problem.
