I don't quite understand why all countries don't get the same options. It must cost a fortune to get separate designs for the brochures etc made up instead of just printing a different language and then you end up with different countries liking options that others have but which aren't available. I don't get it.

Personally I like the half leather/alcantara seats which I think the Germans get.

Maybe we're a little more european than we like to admit!

I think the main reason for differing options is percieved tastes. Many manufacturers do colours that we don't seem to get here or end up arriving on special edition cars. I've seen pics of a candy/deep red metallic scirrocco that looks great but isn't a colour for us (at least at the mo).

That was the red used on the Geneva show car. It's called Firestorm and I agree it looks much better than the standard red. It's got a bit more oomph to it. I think that could have been a top seller if they'd used it. Maybe one for the facelift in 3 years.

I think that was a really expensive paint they used for the show cars, ie not a production paint. Could be wrong. A more affordable version would be good though.
