Rear Ended

Post by hama »

So it's finally happened, was rear-ended by three prepubescent joyriders this morning. They hit the back of motor with what seemed like some force. I had the handbrake off at the time and was shunted some feet forward, luckily I still had my seatbelt on but still got whiplash. I had seen them coming fast from the rearview mirror and knew they wouldn't stop.

Thankfully, the damage appears to be nil. I had imagined that the entire rear end would be totalled, it seemed to me fairly violent at the time. Had the bodyshop look over it and there is no material or mechanical damage whatsoever. The tiniest bit of cosmetic damage which disappeared after a polish.

My main concern was the robustness of the vehicle to withstand a further accident but they assured me that after inspecting it, taking off the bumber and lifting the motor up, that all things were normal.

I've had cars before that would have collapsed with a impact like that, thank god for VW build quality!

PS. Don't try to stop joyriders from driving away, I was very nearly under them!

Mate unlucky, and hope your neck feels better soon.

Glad the car withstood the assault and you are not too inconvenienced as a result - as you say VW quality showing here.

Hope the police catch the toerags.
