New Tyres time....

Post by tjdixon »

My front tyres are due for replacement, just wondering what people are replacing the Bridgestones with or are you sticking with them? Don't want anything too expensive, had Kumo KU31's on my last car which was a good tyre for the money but don't know what they will be like on the Roc...

Any suggestions much appreciated, also running 17's...

Thanks

Tom

The common tyres on here that get mentions are Pirelli P-Zeros, Dunlop Sports and the Bridgestones.

Whatever you go for though, make sure you get a well known and respected brand. No point on spending over 20K on a car and skimping on the rubber that holds it to the road.

And Shaun, 260 a corner :wow:

I've got the Eagle F1's on my 968, they are excellent on that, I tried them on my Fabia previously and they were good on that too, can't imagine they would be bad on the Roc.

I've had 2 Dunlop Sport SP01's (original factory fit) that have developed a sidewall bulge, i've never hit a severe pothole and yet the bulge appears. The grip was pretty good in all conditions, but 8K miles from a tyre is not good.

I'd give these tyres a wide birth on replacement. Bridgestone have a good "insurance policy" that comes with their tyres. They give free tyre repair or a prorata reimbursement on any tyres beyond repair, dependent upon remaining tread - a good deal, given my past experiences.

Are all low profile tyres fragile?

If anyone sources the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric let me know!!! I need for my wifes car and also for mine. Reveiws excellent but have been some production issues and supply variable. For the cost they look very very good and not let down on performance front.

I've got Goodyear Eagles F1 Asymmetric on my Roc on all 4 wheels in 235/35 R19 and they are excellent!
The grip is amazing in all conditions and very very good on wet roads. As a bonus the tyre looks very widish also due to it's nice profile on my 8.5 rims.

micheldever tyres sell the new f1 asymetrics, and are really competitive price wise. You may be able to get someone more local to price match.

Camskill for the goodyear F1's listed on their site for a reasonable price.

Regarding those that have been complimnetarty about the dunlops I can only assume that I have a duff set on my car. They are pants (better now it is warmer though) but they are awful in the wet, awful in the dry and mediocre now that the temps up a bit and the roads are dry.

I've done about 5K on them and they are lookin warn. Lreckon I will get 10K out of them.

I'm open minded about the SP1s I too have a bulg but do get some understeer now they've seen 10k. Move fronts to back to get better tread on fronts helps. Found 4 Goodyear Eagles for mrs, 5 in Germany in her size and that's it!!! Paid £165inc vat which isn't good but theyu do need changing and kids safety comes first!
