Flat tyre indicator set button
forgive me if this seems a simple subject, but i didn't know before, so i thought to enlighten anyone just in case.
Basically, i thought the dealer had fogotten to install it as i did not notice the button in front of the gear lever. However, I was told by the dealer that there are 3 systems in existance;
-Set button in front of gear lever
-set button inside the glove box ( this is my version)
-no set button. the system resets automatically over 30mph and gives a readout on the MFD screen.
why 3 systems? i do not know, but it was one of those things one can easily overlook.

Re: Flat tyre indicator set button
the ones with the button in front of the gear stick are MY2009
those with it in the glove box are MY2010
haven't heard anything about not having a button...

yeah Trix, i thought so. the thing was i ordered the car in 09 and still have 09 catalogues everywhere in the house. Hence i spotted the button missing in the first place.
But of course i just had it, so its to 2010 spec.

Re: Flat tyre indicator set button
surely having no button & the system auto resetting at 30mph kind of goes against what the system there to detect;
yes it will notify you if your tyre has gone down over night while the car has been standing but it won't notify you if your tyre has lost some but not enough to set it off & then it will reset which effectively allows it to lose abit more, then reset, & then abit more, & reset, etc etc etc - you get my thought pattern
human error is a wonderful thing but I think i'd much rather have it resettable by myself than the car..

Also
or wheel 1 X, wheel 2 X, wheel 3 Y, wheel 4 X - different bad
alarm!!
why would they redesign it to be swankier (showing tyre pressures or something on the mdf) but not tell anyone?
the more I read it the more I recon hes pulling your leg, sorry
here I think we need an Andy opinion....

give a readout of what?! the tyre pressures? the rolling circumferences? the system has never been designed to give specific tyre pressures as it is all within the abs system not the tyre (cars which give specific tyre pressure readings require specialist valves), if it shows the circumferences again (I would think) thats too complex for the system as it is at the moment. it must currently work on a basis of: wheel 1 X, wheel 2 X, wheel 3 X, wheel 4 X - same goodskyblues11 wrote:-no set button. the system resets automatically over 30mph and gives a readout on the MFD screen.

God knows Trix..
it doesn't help when i don't have the manual to hand.
my only other experience with these TP system was a Peugeot 407 saloon. It had a 'on screen' message when i had a nail in the tread. It told me which tyre was low in pressure and that was it.
when the tyre fitters took the tyre off, the valve and the transmitter were like a single sealed unit, like size of a match box.
nevermind, now that i know its there, i will leave this subject until the manual arrived.
called the dealer on 3 occasions and still no call back...

Re: Flat tyre indicator set button
i'm still mystified... is there an extra screen on the mfd saying "tyre pressure ok" then..?

no idea. In that 407 it was part of the central display screen you would expect from a French car. It goes thru a series of checks and it does end up saying 'Tyre Pressure ok'.
is it ok to press the re-set button in the glove box? I have not done anything to the tyre , but really tempted to press it and see what happens.

Re: Flat tyre indicator set button
all it does is beep once it resets. not very exciting so save it for when you need to.
apologies for my previous post i missed that you did have the button, still think the dealer is talking a load of tosh about the no reset type one.

Re: Flat tyre indicator set button
its ok. still so much to learn, but not helped by the fact that i don't have the manual.
called the dealer again ( 5th time in a week) and again no call back.
i never realised it was that difficult to get a manual once the money is paid....this is why i hate car dealers as much as i hate estate agents.
