Boot Struts: the alternative version

Post by trix »

Some of you may have heard my hideous knocking when opening the boot at the weekend's meet (sounds like a ball bearing running down inside the bootlid...)

Well my poor long suffering car went back in to the dealer for them to look at this today (4th time its been in this year, previous 3 for rear screen heating element diagnosing [x1] or rear screen replacement [2].. but I digress..) I had informed the service tech when I booked it in I thought it was the struts, so could he make sure there were some in, but RW1 & Deacon's diagnosis on sat was something in the bootlid itself come loose.. well boys I was right apparently, a magnet had come off inside the strut & was sliding up & down in it

At least it's fixed now.

Shame you couldn't get them to fit a more powerful strut so the boot automatically opens for you! ;)
