Re: Mirror repeaters
I did the same on my MkV Golf and thought it would just be a case of replacing the plastic, but it turned out the plastic was part of the whole indicator (the dealer gave me the broken one back so I know they weren't just winding me up). Can't remember how much it cost to replace but wasn't very expensive, think the labour to take the mirror to bits cost more.

Oh so I can't do it myself? Thought it maybe easy as what do you do if you want to change a bulb?ABN1C wrote:I did the same on my MkV Golf and thought it would just be a case of replacing the plastic, but it turned out the plastic was part of the whole indicator (the dealer gave me the broken one back so I know they weren't just winding me up). Re: Mirror repeaters
It might be something you can do yourself, just not something I'd attempt. Just wanted to let you know that if it's anything like my Golf it was a full indicator that was required and not just the plastic lens. I'm also not sure if there was a bulb in the indicator, might have just been LEDs.
Re: Mirror repeaters
Complete replacement lens required, Part number 3C8 949 101 / 102 depending on which side
Looking at around £20+vat from the price update i have.
Interestingly it there is a different part number if you have 'surrounds light' which will be the puddle lights, so it look as though it could be retrofitted - but not cheaply looking at the prices!!!

expensive but will at least work if you dont have the folding mirrors and may light a puddle rather than the small circle of paintwork, why the hell they could not have put them in the bottom of the doorsAndy-GTI wrote:Interestingly it there is a different part number if you have 'surrounds light' which will be the puddle lights, so it look as though it could be retrofitted - but not cheaply looking at the prices!!!

Re: Mirror repeaters
firstly take the glass out, then it should be the same as any other vw, like the eos, so there will be about 6(ish) torx screws there holding the cover on, either 20 or 15 torx, then take the repeator out, or you might just be able to get to the repeator strait away, but the wire that plugs into it will be tight so be carefull.

Re: Mirror repeaters
Did you manage to replace your repeater? I have just hit mine putting it in the garage
Luckily it looks like just the repeater glass is broken, the painted top bit landed on the floor unbroken!

Re: Mirror repeaters
sorry rehmondo, only just read your comment,
best way to take the actual glass out is to move the inner corner of the glass (if your doing the drivers side, its the bottom left corner) and move that in as far as it will go, then you should be able to get a screwdriver onto the back of the glass (theres a big plastic circle there with 4 clips on, get one of the clips off, wiggle it a bit and it will come off)
