Hello forum,
Had my car for 5 weeks now and it's great. Just got a quick question about the driving lights that come on when you start the car and the light switch is in the '0' position (I think this is the case). Basically, the headlights come on but they are full headlights (not full beam but full dipped nightime driving headlights). Is this correct? I'd have thought these 'daytime' lights would have been far less bright - as per Volvos etc. The car is UK spec & supplied and has the standard, non xenon, lights.
Only a niggle but any info would be much appreciated before I quizz the dealer about it...who will inevitably say it's normal.
Many thanks,
David.
My daytime driving lights are full headlights - correct?

it is normal, daytime lights are standard, unfortunately for some, myself included. Tried to get the dealer to turn them off but they forgot, some dealers have said it cant be done, some say you can turn them off and then not on again. i dont know any one who has a definitive answer

Thanks dchuraman, I guess I'll just put the switch to the sidelights setting. I'm certain these driving lights on the demo car were far less bright that normal headlights...? I must have looked like a numpty driving around with full headlights in the day for about a week.

we all have! ive kind of forgotten about mine though now, but it does seem to make the automatic headlights finction useless from what i can see, apart from turning on the dash lights etc

I honestly don't understand why so many of you are bothered about it? What difference does it make? I promise they don't make your cars go any slower...
It's something that is going to be a must by Law within a couple of years, and there are countries where driving without your headlights on (during the day) throughout the winter months is a legal offence.
I often find that even in poor weather conditions a lot of people in this country are really bad about turning their headlights on.

when it becomes law and more and more new cars have them then it might be ok, but right now i dont want to stick out like a sore thumb, and i want to make use of the automatic headlights feature! as it stands its an automatic dash light not headlight!robrob wrote:I honestly don't understand why so many of you are bothered about it? Oh so that's the real reason the car gets so much attention...dchuraman wrote:right now i dont want to stick out like a sore thumb, and i want to make use of the automatic headlights feature! as it stands its an automatic dash light not headlight!

I agree that it does make the auto headlights kinda useless, and I was sure up until I read this thread that it was not the full headlights that were on permanently.
