Did your RNS510 Sat Nav Come with POI Speed Cam?

Did your RNS510 Sat Nav Come with POI Speed Cam?

Hi,

My car (March 09) came with V4 maps preinstalled on the RNS510. I notice it does have speed camera POIs(!). Does anyone else have this on their V4 disc???

The reason I ask is, because I've finally got my original V4 disc from the dealer, and am looking to flash the firmware on the RNS510 to revision 1100 (the latest?), so that I can add destinations vs SD card.
However, this will mean that I will lose the contents of the HDD and will have to reinstall the maps from the disc. - I'm worried about losing the speed cam POIs though if the original disc doesn't have them.

Any suggestions/thoughts?

i have the v3 version...
the dealer said that once a year vw zubehoer write to you asking if you want to upgrade but it cost like £500.
he said when i ge the letter, pop down and they'll burn me a copy :)
i would imagine that speed cameras are an extra cost, probably on another disk.
mine doesn't have speed cameras as standard...

That's cool if they are now included :)

As far as I understood there were no speed camera POIs on the standard disk

I found this excellent post on a golf forum explaining how to create a new ISO to include speed cameras, but you need to be at least a bit clued up with IT

Unfortunately, I don't know, or I'd have upgraded already. To be honest, I really wouldn't have thought so, but would love to be proven wrong...

Turns out I already have this firmware in mine. You can tell if your balance/fader controls show a picture of the inside of the car when selected. You can indeed import POIs from an SD card. The option to do so is in the NAV section somewhere (I was looking at it the other day) but I'm not sure what format the POIs need to be on the SD card for the import to work. I'll see if there's anything in the manual about it.

I'm on firmware 1000 I think, I get the picture of the car in the balance/fader, but can't import nav or POIs (either that or I don't know how to).
I'll be attempting the upgrade this weekend, when I have somewhere I can park the car unlocked (It seems locking the car will make my headunit turn itself off after a while)..

After hours of messing around, I managed to get an DVD created with UK + West Europe Speedcams along with the V4 maps.
After another hour upgrading firmware, another hour loading DVD, and another 2 hours reinstalling my music. I'm finally there with the new firmware and speed cam POIs!

The following is an absolute gem of a website to help you do that. Note I did not change the version number of the DVD and it still worked fine...

Just factor in about 3-4 hours installing software and creating a DVD, and another 4 hours upgrading firmware, and setting up your system!

Oh, and the answer to my own question is a definitive NO - RNS510 V4 DVD does not come with speedcam POI as default!
