Speaker Sizes

Post by MKAndy »

Does anyone know the dimensions for the speaker recesses in the Rocco doors?

Looking for Mids Diameter and depth, and tweeter Diameter and depth.

Cheers!

I think all i've worked out so far is the mids are 6.5" or more likely 16.5cm

If you want to change them you can go for 6.5" round speakers but you'll also need the Autoleads speaker adaptor kit designed for the Mk5 Golf. This is a real b*stard of a job by the way! No sure what the tweeters are.

I'll probably cut my own in fairness? What's the worst bit, routing the cables through the doors?

Also, are the doors double skinned, i.e can you unbolt the inner door skins?

No you can't unbolt the inner door skins. I used the existing cables but found the whole job to be a pain. Drilling out rivets and the rear seats need to come out to get the rear trims off. It was a job I thought would be a lot simpler and quicker than I thought.

Jeez they riveted the speakers onto the door, and they're still shitty. Boo! Actually my car is still currently under warranty, perhaps I can get them to replace the popped speaker.
